Award-winning classic car specialists since 1993, CMC have restored and maintained some of Jaguar’s most important road and race cars over the years.
Always a popular - and quickly booked - event, the day will consist of four absorbing and informative technical sessions, with coffee/tea on arrival, and a light buffet lunch.
Hosted by CMC at their Bridgnorth premises, the day will begin at 10am and finish around 4pm.
Technical Sessions
Panel:
- Panel gapping and setting correctly, including shut lines, lock/latch setting effect of seals and how to achieve best shut lines/operation.
- Correct assembly/build technique of Jaguar E type/XK and monocoque cars. And the importance of correct assembly/welding.
- Welding methods and technique. Importance of correct procedure for a given panel.
- Panel forming, wheeling and basic hand shaping.
Detailing/vehicle care:
- Polishing and rejuvenation of old and modern paint finishes.
- Detailing of interior, exterior, underside and wheels on classic and modern cars.
- Final protective coatings. Benefits/drawbacks of alternate products. Where and when to use the correct product for an individuals needs.
- General good care of your vehicles finish, interior, exterior underside etc….
- Paint faults and finishes.
General mechanical/Axle & Gearbox:
- General maintenance. Importance of correct servicing, oils and products in your classic.
- Gearbox/drive train and differential fundamentals, operation, faults and fixes.
- Preparing your car for winter storage/use.
- Recommissioning your car from winter storage.
Engine/tuning (this will be based on and around our Hub Dyno):
- Importance of correct carburettor and timing set up, air fuel ration and how to set.
- General tuning/set up of carburettor engine cars.
- Fuel injection systems, modern cars and retro-fit to classics.
- Ethanol in fuels.
